Elegy in Sunshine was written in early spring, under the influence of that peculiar nostalgia of regeneration and outward-boundness that affects many at that time:

April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.

T. S. Eliot, The Wasteland

An aching brightness touches the new leaves and blossoms. The days lengthen. A gentle sweetness moves both the air and our feelings. Reflections return to the streams. With warmer days, journeys begin. Ships set sail. We leave home.

Edogawa Commemorative Garden, East Gosford, NSW

I’ve included tablature to help play and interpret this song. The tempo is unhurried, giving room for an easy syncopation.
